Mazda to invest Bt12b in eco cars 2 in Thailand
BANGKOK, October 10 (TNA) - Mazda will invest 12 billion baht to build a new plant in Thailand to manufacture 150,000 units of its eco cars 2 sedans annually.
Thai Industry Minister Chakamon Pasukavanich told journalists of the plan on Friday, after his meeting with Hiroshi Inoue, an executive officer of Japan-based Mazda Motor Corp, noting that Mazad has already received promotional privileges from the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) to produce the eco cars 2 sedans, following its earlier success in selling Mazda 3.
Chakamon quoted the Mazda executive officer as saying that sales of Mazda 3 cars in Thailand ranked fourth highest in the world and, after gaining the confidence, Mazda has decided to invest the 12-billion baht-fund to build the new plant at the Hemaraj Industrial Estate in Rayong Province in the Thai East, with the construction to be started on November 6, 2014.
Mazda's eco cars 2 will be powered by both diesel and benzene and they will be sold in Thailand and exported to overseas markets, including those in Europe. (TNA)
