Turkish Premier to address WFES in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, Jan 17, 2010 (WAM)- Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be one of the keynote speakers at the opening session of the 3rd World Future Energy Summit which is due to start on Monday in the Emirates' capital Abu Dhabi.
During his visit to the UAE, Erdogan will be accompanied by high-profile Turkish officials including State Minister Zafer Caglayan, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and several other deputies.
`Turkish Ambassador to the UAE Yilmaz Vural Altay said Erdogan's participation in WFES further emphasizes Turkey's commitment to the development of renewable energy and support to global initiatives to adopt clean energy around the world.
Turkey, he added, possesses huge renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, hydro and geothermal energy which, combined, account for 25% of Turkey's current total intake of energy. Altay predicted the percentage will be significantly increased in the future.
The Ambassador expressed Turkey's appreciation and support to the UAE's efforts to promote renewable energy adding that his country is looking forward for wider and constructive bilateral and international cooperation in this field.
