UAE discusses stronger trade with Poland, Macedonia
Abu Dhabi, Jan 18, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Foreign Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi held 2 separate meetings with Macedonian Minister of Economy Fatmir Besimi and Polish Deputy Minister Economic Affairs Marcin Korolek.
The two separate meetings discussed ways to further promote UAE's trade exchange with Macedonia and Poland as well as to tap investment potentials and opportunities offered by the three countries.
Sheikha Lubna urged Macedonian and Polish investors and companies to benefit from the UAE's geographical location, world-class marine, land and air transport systems and infrastructure as a gateway to the whole region Besimi said his country is looking forward to direct flights between Macedonia and the UAE.
Trade between the UAE and Macedonia reached US$7 million in 2008 posting, a 62% growth over 2007. Non-oil trade between the UAE and Poland grew by 152% over the recent years to reach US$642 million. The UAE has become Poland's first trade partner in the region, according to Korolek
