UAE Foreign Minister meets Spanish CP, delegates to IRENA's meet

Abu Dhabi, Jan 18, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan received yesterday at the Emirates Palace visiting Spanish Crown Prince Felipe de Borbony. Sheikh Abdullah and the Spanish Royal discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed satisfaction at the pace of progress the distinguished UAE-Spanish bonds are making.
The Spanish Crown Prince said he was impressed with the progress the UAE is witnessing in various walks of life. He said the UAE is gaining respect and esteem of the world community as a model of development thanks to the wisdom of its leadership and its balanced foreign policy towards several international issues.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah welcomed heads of delegations participating in the Third Session of the Preparatory Commission of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Abdullah met prime ministers of Tuvalu and Tonga, deputy prime minister of Armenia, deputy prime minister and foreign of Albania, foreign minister of Vanuatu, Kenyan minister of energy, Lebanese minister of energy and water, minister of energy in Sierra Leone, deputy US secretary of environment, deputy South Korean minister of knowledge and economy and secretary general of Japanese foreign ministry.
Sheikh Abdullah explored with the top delegates avenues of joint cooperation in areas of renewable energy and economy.
They also reviewed agenda of IRENA's meeting and requirements of the new agency in the future. The delegates expressed the desire of their governments to cooperate with the UAE in energy sector.
