Hybrid cars to join Presidential Affairs Ministry's fleet

Abu Dhabi, Jan 19, 2010 (WAM)- A group of environmental friendly hybrid cars will be introduced in the vehicle fleet of the Ministry of the Presidential Affairs this year as part of its commitment to best practices on sustainable conservation and protection of the environment, the Ministry has announced.
The move is in line with directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, for creating a safe, clean and attractive environment measuring up to the reputation and standing of the UAE globally.
The Protocol Department will take delivery to a number of these cars fitted with state-of-the-art environmental friendly system to use them in it presidential missions like transportation of VIPs and high profile state visitors.
The move is also synchronized with another initiative by the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
The policy aims to save lives and properties, preserve the environment and natural resources, improve occupational health and safety (OHS) standards and apply modern technology to reduce noise by modes of transport.
The move sends out a positive message to foreign visitors, and both public and private sectors about the UAE's efforts to conserve and protect the environment and natural resources and adopt sustainable development principles.
