Ministry of Economy registers 4198 trade agencies until December 2009
Abu Dhabi, Jan 21, 2010 (WAM)- The Ministry of Economy yesterday revealed that 4,198 trade agencies have registered with the Ministry until December 31, 2009, with 349 new agencies registering last year.
Hamid Bin Butti, Executive Director of the Commercial Affairs Sector at the Ministry, said that of the 349 agencies registered in 2009, 208 are based in Abu Dhabi; 121 in Dubai and 20 in Sharjah and other Northern Emirates. He said that of the total registered agencies, 2550 were in Abu Dhabi, 1474 in Dubai and 147 in the other emirates.
The Ministry cancelled 349 agencies last year - 222 in Abu Dhabi, 104 in Dubai and 23 in Sharjah.
Al Muhairi said the Ministry has renewed 4,086 agency licences last year - 2,539 agency in Abu Dhabi; 1,369 in Dubai and 178 in Sharjah.
He said that agencies dealing with engineering equipment and electro-mechanical equipment for water desalination and drainage formed largest group at 1,436. This was followed by agencies for fire fighting equipment and security (482) and medical and pharmaceuticals (478).
