RCA, Khalifa Foundation gear up humanitarian efforts in Haiti

Abu Dhabi, Jan 25, 2010 (WAM)- A relief team sent by UAE's Red Crescent Authority (RCA) to help victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti has started works to reinforce the capability of hospitals in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. The aim of this humanitarian operation is to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to the displaced Haitians injured in the disaster.
Large amounts of medical aid have been sent by RCA along the relief air bridge which connects the Red Crescent with the relief operations in Haiti.
Head of the Red Crescent delegation Humid Al Shamsi said that RCA has lined up its expertise in the humanitarian scene to devote all efforts to alleviate the sufferings caused by the disaster. Work is gaining pace to improve the humanitarian situation and provide the essential needs of those affected by catastrophic disaster.
On another level, the Director General of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Charity Foundation Mohammed Haji Khouri met yesterday with Clara Martinez Thedy, the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the UAE to discuss the best ways to provide logistic help for the ongoing relief operations in Haiti.
