UAE Foreign Ministry denies press report on Bahraini fishing vessel piracy

Abu Dhabi, Jan 26, 2010 (WAM)- An official source at UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied a news report published in "Alwasat" Bahraini newspaper yesterday about the subject of Bahraini fishing vessel "Dar al Salam" Bearing No. 8078 for acts of piracy within the territorial waters of the UAE. UAE's Official Source added that, according to the investigations, on the evening of Wednesday January 20, the ship "Dar al Salam," has been subjected to a process of piracy north of the border between UAE and Iran and not in the maritime areas of the UAE. He also said that according to Federal Law No. 19 of 1993 on the appointment of the UAE's marine areas, fishing in its waters confined to UAE nationals.
