Al Ain air show wows spectators

Al Ain, Jan 28, 2010 (WAM)- Stunning performances on Wednesday enthralled thousands of spectators on the opening day of the 7th edition of Al Ain International Aerobatics Show in the Oasis city.
The opening day displays included individual and team performances from 23 teams from 15 countries with their 45 civilian and military aircraft. The Aero GP – aviation’s Formula 1 is also a part of the show for the second consecutive year according to a report in "Gulf News."
Spectators poured in from all over the UAE, neighbouring GCC states, and other countries to watch the annual fiesta that is also the seasons’ first air show of the world.
The show is being jointly organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and UAE Air Force and Air Defence at Al Ain International Airport. Many spectators were seen watching the show from the comfort of their cars parked along the road that winds its way through the high sand dunes leading to the airport.
The thundery performance of the F-16 Falcons from the Royal Bahrain Air Force spellbound the spectators. Crowd favourites the Saudi Hawks from the Royal Saudi Air force aerobatics Team also performed in tight formations.
The six daredevil pilots taking part in the Aero GP mustered applause for their routines and routines in three different disciplines of the competition to beat each other.
The show will continue with daily performance until January 30. The organisers have also arranged lots of attractions for family entertainment. A vast area has been specified for exhibitions for national and international organisations.
