Students from UAE build house for a poor Kenyan family

Sharjah, Feb 7, 2010 (WAM) A group of ten students from Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah have built a house for a poor family in the Kenyan jungles under the supervision of Habitat for Humanity.
The group returned home upon finishing 8 days of work constructing the house for the 4-member Kenyan family in Chuka, a small village in northeast of Nairobi, as part of "MOSAIC 2010", a voluntary program held this year under the theme ‘The Spirit of Caring.' Laying the foundations of Joseph's new house was the most difficult part of the process, according to Abdullah Huraimel, a member of the team.
It was a wonderful experience where villagers in Chuka showed amazing skills and have vast knowledge making me feel humbled me as student of engineering, said Mohammed Ali, another member of the team. They, he noted, have The students used bricks which they made on-site to construct the 3-bedroom house.
A small inauguration party was held to hand over the new house to Joseph and his family. The tail of water buffalo was local trophy given by the villagers at the ceremony to Nicholas, a teacher HCT as an honour and an expression of appreciation for the team's efforts.
