UAE's DPG becomes member of UN Global Compact

Dubai, Feb 8, 2010 (WAM)- Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, today announced it has become a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), an initiative that encourages businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies.
With the UNGC membership, Dubai Properties Group joins an elite list of over 5,500 business participants and other stakeholders from more than 130 countries.
Launched in July 2000, the UN Global Compact acts as a policy platform and a practical framework for companies throughout the world and provides a leadership initiative endorsed by chief executives. Through a 10-point plan, it seeks to align business operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
Dubai Properties Group aspires to meet the standard outlined in the compact and has pledged to embrace, support and enact a set of core values according to the 10 principles of UNGC in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment, and anti-corruption. It has also committed to incorporating the UNGC principles into its strategy, culture and day-to-day operations and engage in collaborative projects that seek to advance the broader development goals of the United Nations.
Dubai Properties Group has already established an impressive record in CSR and other sustainable activities. DPG is the first real estate company in the Middle East to be checked and certified "level C" by the world's leading corporate responsibility organisation, the Global Reporting Initiative based in Amsterdam - Netherlands. In addition the company was awarded the second runners-up in the 2009 CSR Arabia Awards, the only real estate company in the Middle East to earn this distinction in the large company category.
