Haiti government hails UAE humanitarian role

Port-au-Prince - Feb 11, 2010 (WAM)- The Haitian government has hailed the humanitarian efforts extended by the Red Crescent Authority of UAE in various areas to mitigate the sufferings of the Haitian people.
HE Redard Spencer, Haitian Minister of Health during a meeting with the team members of the Emergency Response Unit of Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital stated that his government appreciates the leading role of UAE after the devastating earthquake that hit the country on the twelfth of January.
He emphasised that the presence of the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital in Haiti during this critical juncture enhance the capacity of the health sector in his country and works to improve the health situation.
During the meeting, Dr Adel Al Shamri, Executive Director of Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital gave details on the medical programs and continuing health services of the hospital for more than a week on the scene to ease the suffering of the Haitian sick and injured.
He also mentioned that the hospital has moved to Haiti upon the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the support of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and the follow up of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority.
The Emergency Response Unit of Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital is continuing giving medical and health services to alleviate the suffering of the Haitian people.
