UAE harvests gold in the 11th Gulf Festival for Radio and Television Production

Manama, Bahrain - Feb 14, 2010 (WAM)- The United Arab Emirates bagged six awards- five gold medals and a silver as the 11th Gulf Festival for Radio and Television Production concluded in Bahrain.
'The history of Heart and the March of a Nation', a TV production based on the life and message of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan produced by the Abu Dhabi broadcasting network won a gold medal in the documentary category.
The Muashir (Index) a TV programme produced by Dubai Television bagged the gold for economic programmes while the 'The Shadow of Words', by Dubai TV won the award in the talk show category.
Abu Dhabi TV's 'Prince of Poets' won the award for the best variety show.
In the Historical Drama category, Abu Dhabi TV's 'Duroob al-Khataya' won the gold while Dubai TV's 'Hanna and Ranna' won a silver in the comedy category.
HE Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the National Media Council had led the UAE delegation to the Festival held between 9th and 12th February.
The delegation is composed of representatives of the Abu Dhabi Media Company, Dubai Media Incorporated and the Sharjah Media Foundation, all of whom participate in the festival under the umbrella of the National Media Council (NMC).
Ghobash hailed the role of Bahrain's Ministry of Culture and Information in organising the annual Festival of the radio and television production in Manama. The minister said the festival has made great strides in the past ten years. "The festival is a bridge of communication and cordial relations among the brothers in the GCC states", he said.
