Emirati to head the International Organisation for Search and Rescue for Europe, Africa and Middle East sector
Abu Dhabi, Feb 14, 2010 (WAM)- The International Organisation for Search and Rescue of the United Nations, has selected UAE national Police officer Major Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, of Abu Dhabi police, as a regional chairman of the organisation for Europe, Africa and Middle East sector, thus becoming the first ever Arab national to occupy this post
Al Ansari has been occupying the post of deputy chairman of the organisation since 2008. He is currently a member of the UN team, for disaster assessment and coordination and liaison officer of the Ministry of Interior and UN for disasters Affairs.
Commenting on his selection, Al Ansari thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his sustained support that helped him to attain this achievement.
