Lubna Al Qasimi discusses bilateral relations with Deputy Treasury Secretary

Abu Dhabi, Feb 16, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Minister of Foreign Trade H.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al-Qasimi discussed yesterday with Deputy US Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin ways of boosting trade relations.
During the meeting, they discussed developments in trade between the two countries and means of encouraging private sector in both countries to boost contacts via forums and exhibitions so as to tap investment opportunities in order to stimulate economic growth in the two countries.
Al Qasimi stressed the importance of strengthening the current trade partnership between the UAE and USA.
She said ''UAE is considered the largest trade partner to USA in the Middle East and occupied the third position amongst the world in terms of non-oil trade in 2008 with volume standing at US$13.3 billion.'' She referred that the increasing number of US companies in the exhibition hosted by UAE underlines the deep ties between the two countries.
She stated that UAE represents an ideal market for businessmen and investors due to its advanced investment strengths in addition to its resilient capability of facing addressing different challenges.
For his part, the US senior official expressed his country's keenness to forge the trade and economic relations with UAE. The meeting was attended by senior officials and the US Ambassador to UAE Richard Olson. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
