Saif bin Zayed receives honorary doctorate from the University of Wolverhampton

Abu Dhabi, Feb 16 2010 (WAM)- Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister '&' Minister of Interior has received an Honorary Degree of Doctor in Social Sciences from the United Kingdom's University of Wolverhampton in recognition of his efforts in the security and social development.
Sheikh Saif received the coveted degree yesterday during a ceremony hosted by the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police.
Sheikh Saif said in a speech that the credit for that honour should go to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces for their continuous support to the development process across the UAE.
"This degree is awarded to all of us because the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had taught us that an individual work cannot succeed without the collective efforts," Sheikh Saif said.
"We learnt from Zayed how to be persistent in reaching our goals and how to focus on what we do to guarantee success," he added.
A documentary was shown on the University of Wolverhampton which was established in 1870 as Wolverhampton the Free Library and developed into a global provider of entrepreneurial education. Another documentary detailing Sheikh Saif's role in enhancing security and safety within the UAE society was also shown.
Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Caroline Gipps said Sheikh Saif was awarded the Doctorate in appreciation to his role as one of the pioneers of change and development in the fields of security and police.
Mick Elliott, Chairman of the University's Board of Governors said the university was honoured to felicitate Sheikh Saif and his achievements. -
