Dubai Police names 26 suspects in Al-Mabhouh murder case
Dubai, Feb 25, 2010 (WAM) - Dubai Police General Command revealed on Wednesday additional critical information in the murder case at a Dubai hotel in January of the Hamas official Mahmoud Abdel Raouf Mohammed Hassan also known as Mahmoud al-Mabhouh . The extensive investigation has led to a total of 26 suspects so far involved in the crime.
In addition to the previously released list of 11 suspects, Dubai Police has now identified another six suspects who include a woman who used British passports, a man and three women travelling on Irish passports, two men who used French passports, and three people with Australian passports. The Australians included a woman.
The new list of suspects includes 15 names, bringing the total identified as of this statement to 26.
Dubai Police has identified the additional suspects as:-.
British passport holders: Daniel Marc Schnur, Gabriella Barney, Roy Allan Cannon, Stephen Keith Drake, Mark Sklur and Philip Carr.
Irish passports holders: Ivy Brinton, Anna Shuana Clasby and Chester Halvey.
French passport holders: David Bernard LaPierre, Melenie Heard and Eric Rassineux.
Australian passport holders Bruce Joshua Daniel , Nicole Sandra Mccabe and Adam Korman.
Earlier this month Dubai Police had issued a list of 11 suspects and promised additional names as the investigation advanced.
Yesterday's lists raises the total number of suspects who used British passports to 12 from six, and six Irish passports from three, and three French passports from one and the naming of three additional suspects with Australian passports. This is in addition to a German passport holder announced earlier in February.
Friendly nations who have been assisting in this investigation have indicated to the police in Dubai that the passports were issued in an illegal and fraudulent manner, adding that the pictures on the travel documents did not correspond to the original owners.
The new list of suspects includes people who offered prior logistical support and preparations to facilitate the crime and others who played a central role.
Dubai Police investigators are not ruling out the possibility of involvement of other people in the murder, stressing that the authorities are still conducting a wide search and reviewing other links to the case.
The investigation by Dubai Police has also led to credit cards used by 14 of the suspects. The issuing bank (META BANK) was also identified in the United States. The cards were used to book hotel rooms and pay for air travel.
Dubai Police General Command stressed that all the suspects will be pursued to stand trial for this crime as the evidence shows their involvement in preparations, planning, logistics, surveillance, technical support and the actual killing of al-Mabhouh.
Dubai Police is issuing this information as part of its efforts to remain transparent and only does so after the evidence is checked thoroughly and accurately.
The General Command reiterated that the safety and security of the United Arab Emirates, its people, resident and visitors are a red line that should not be crossed and those who meddle in the security of this country will be dealt with strictly and according to the law.
A statement from the General Command of the Dubai Police said that the UAE will never tolerate the violation of its sovereignty or allow external forces to settle scores on its territory no matter what their ideology is.
Dubai Police stressed the intention to continue its investigation with the full cooperation of several security authorities in concerned states and international bodies to pursue the suspects and put them on trial through legitimate procedures and international regulations.
The investigation has led Dubai Police to identify the travel routes of the suspects and their destinations prior to and after committing the crime. The Police also released a document showing the travel routes of the suspects.
The document tracing their movement showed how the suspects gathered in Dubai and dispersed to various locations before paring up again in different teams and heading off to other destinations.
