Abu Dhabi's Masdar, ADCED participate in Abu Dhabi - Korea Economic Forum in Seoul

Seoul, Mar 9, 2010 (WAM)- The Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) and Masdar participated in the "Abu Dhabi - Korea Economic Forum: Clean Technology and Renewable Energy" event in Seoul on the 3rd March 2010. The forum represented an original initiative to develop understanding and long term co-operation between Abu Dhabi and Korea in the fields of Clean Technology and Renewable Energy. It was one the first significant follow-up events to occur in the Republic of Korea since the signature of the nuclear power and bilateral economic cooperation agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Korea in December 2009.
A strong delegation from Masdar lead by H.E. Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, attended the Forum and presented an overview of the MASDAR initiative (Masdar city, Masdar Institute of Science '&' Technology, Masdar PV ). The Masdar initiative aims to transform Abu Dhabi into a global leader in sustainable renewable energy technologies. H.E. Abdulla Al-Maainah, UAE Ambassador to South Korea, also attended the Forum.
The Forum was organised by Masdar, the Republic of Korea Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korea Economic Daily. The Forum focused mainly on growth opportunities in the clean and green energy industry along with other high-tech supporting areas such as IT and semi-conductor. The Forum also highlighted the need to attract global talents and further develop skilled labour exchanges.
The Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) was established by Law No. 9. in May 2006. Acting as an economic policy advisory council, ADCED was established to facilitate economic diversification and growth through creating greater understanding, cooperation and engagement between the public and private sectors of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Council is chaired by HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chairman of the Executive Council; the Vice Chairman is H.H Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince Court. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi City, ADCED is comprised of a 19-member board. The board includes six members representing the government of Abu Dhabi, five representing the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), five representing the Private Sector and three representing the Business Councils.
