U.S. Congress delegation pays visit to GWU
Abu Dhabi, Mar 30, 2010 (WAM)- A high-level delegation from U.S Congress paid a visit yesterday to the General Women's Union to learn about the efforts of GWU for empowering Emirati women under the leadership of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of General Women's Union and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation.
The delegation listened to a presentation depicting the march of GWU over the last 34 years for promoting the status of women. The presentation also shed light on the major activities and programmes pursued by the GWU for empowering the Emirati Women in implementation of the national strategy for women's development launched by HH Sheikha Fatima earlier in 2002.
The delegation hailed the achievements of the woman in UAE and the heights of leadership she has conquered thanks to the prudent vision of Sheikha Fatima, who is a radiant model for Arab woman with her stance for the progress of women in every field.
The delegation toured various sections at the headquarters of the General Women's Union and expressed their appreciation of the activities.
