US Congressional delegation visits FNC
First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) Ahmed Shabib Al Dhahiri met yesterday with a delegation of the heads of U.S Congressional staffers currently on a tour of UAE to familiarise themselves with the overall renaissance taking place in the country.
During the meeting, which was attended by FNC Members Abdullah bin Nasser al-Mansouri, Dr. Mugheer Khamees Al Khaili and FNC Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazroui, they reviewed the bilateral relations between UAE and USA, particularly in the parliamentary field and explored ways for enhancing them.
Al Mansouri gave a brief description of the FNC and its work with particular emphasis on its legislative and regulatory functions. The country's federal system and its development over the last 38 years, the constitutional amendments and the prerogatives of emirate level as well as federal institutions were also highlighted.
Al Khaili explained to the visiting delegation the mandates of various committees affiliated with the FNC.
They also reviewed the issue of Iran's occupation of the three UAE islands and the insistence of the UAE to reclaim them by peaceful means and dialogue or through recourse to the International Court of Justice.
