Arab Voluntary Forum hails UAE humanitarian efforts

Beirut - Mar 30, 2010 (WAM)- The participants in the Arab volunteering forum yesterday praised in Beirut the efforts exerted by UAE government and people in promotion of the voluntary and humanitarian work. They affirmed that the UAE is one of prominent countries in providing help to the needy worldwide.
The Participants commended the UAE's initiatives in the field of voluntary and humanitarian work which was outlined by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founder of UAE, the course followed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President.
The delegation of Emirates volunteer Association is participating in the event, which is being organised by Lebanon's National Volunteer Centre in cooperation with the Arab Union for Voluntary Work under the patronage of the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Dr Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Charity Initiative, said that the initiative of the late Sheikh Zayed is a model for the humanitarian and voluntary work. He praised the efforts exerted by the charity bodies that bore the burden to supervise and polish skills and voluntary capabilities of volunteers, who carried out and still their responsibilities in the field of local development and service of the communities.
He also commended the Arab countries, which embrace voluntary work and encourage their citizens to indulge in the voluntary work, indicating that those efforts gave birth to numerous charity organisations and foundations, which assist the needy people.
Al Shamri added that Sheikh Zayed's initiative attracted over 30,000 volunteers to deliver its humanitarian message to about 100 million Arab and African people under the umbrella of voluntary work.
