UAE-Spain Joint Economic Committee to be held in Madrid from April 12 to 13

Abu Dhabi, April 7, 2010 (WAM)- Minister of Economy H.E. Sultan Al Mansouri will lead a UAE delegation to Spain to attend the first UAE - Spain Economic Joint Committee meeting.
The objective of the meeting, to be held on April from 12 to 13 is to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the trade sector. The meeting will also focus on strengthening the participation of the private sector in driving economic growth.
The committee is expected to witness the signing of memorandums of understanding between the Securities and Commodities Authority, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in UAE and their counterparts in Spain.
Highlighting the importance of the joint committee meetings, Al Mansouri said: "The meeting will usher in a new era of cooperation between the UAE and Spain across various sectors. Several topics related to investments in both countries will be discussed." Al Mansouri said that UAE leaders are keen to strengthen the relations between UAE and Spain. Bilateral trade between the two nations was 1400 Million Euros in 2008, compared to 900 million Euros in 2007.
The committee will discuss ways to strengthen partnerships in sectors such as direct investment and renewable energy, especially.
