UAE GCAA expands international cooperation with AFCAC

Abu Dhabi, April 8, 2010 (WAM)- The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), signed recently a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Montreal, Canada, under which the GCAA in cooperation with Academy of Technical Training (ATT) and the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS), will offer training courses and grants to AFCAC member-states during 2010-2012 for developing specialised human resources in the civil aviation field.
The MoU, which is in line with GCAA's strategic objective to strengthen international cooperation in civil aviation with various regional organisations, seeks to tackle human resource capacity building in Africa.
Pursuant to the MOU, the UAE will provide specialised scientific, technical and administrative training programmes for AFCAC member-states in order to keep them abreast of all developments witnessed by the ever-changing civil aviation industry. The MOU comes in line with the mutual strategic target of both organisations in supporting and developing civil aviation in the African Continent.
"We see a very strong strategic partnership with AFCAC member states. With the assistance of AFCAC Secretariat, the GCAA will organise a number of on-site training courses in each of Africa's fine regions", said H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA.
The UAE GCAA stands as a unique example in the civil aviation industry at both regional and international levels. Due to its persistent efforts in training specialised human resources and strict compliance with the standards of international civil aviation organisations, the GCAA has attained a high and advanced position in this field. Several authorities and organisations wish to benefit from the UAE GCAA expertise and capabilities in training human resources and its high-end training programs, which all aim at one target: to elevate the overall position of civil aviation industry.
