UAE Ambassador in Tokyo hails the launch of direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Japan
Tokyo, April 11, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Ambassador to Japan Saeed Ali Yousuf Al Nowais has hailed the direct air-route which was opened by Etihad Airways between Abu Dhabi and Japan in March 27.
In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) Al Nowais said that the success of this initiative comes in line with the guidance of the UAE's prudent leadership and the country's desire for extending the bonds of friendship to the Japanese people. This is an extension of the strategic partnership between the two countries and reflects the tireless efforts of the concerned authorities.
He added that Etihad Airways, since its inception in 2003, seeks to expand its foreign operations that have gathered pace and gained for it the reputation as one of the pioneer airlines in the world.
Etihad Airways has recorded this year, a significant development by flying to 60 destinations worldwide including the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and Oceania, he noted.
The Ambassador said that the UAE and Japan share the faith in the importance of expanding the framework of dialogue at all levels and deepen their cooperation. He was certain that the launch of the air route between Abu Dhabi and Japanese destinations will be pushing forward the bilateral relations between the UAE and Japan.
