Electronic Vote to select UAE landmarks among the World Natural Seven Wonders
Abu Dhabi, April 12, 2010 (WAM)- The General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, has created an electronic link on the website of Department of Community Police to avail an opportunity for all police personnel to vote the island of Bu Tinah and Liwa Crescent among new seven wonders of nature in the world.
This step comes within the guidance of police leadership to develop partnerships among government, private sector and individuals to preserve the natural heritage and terrain, besides observance of traditions and historical heritage.
Major General Mohammad bin Al Awadi Al Minhali, Deputy Director General of Police Operations, stressed the importance of communicating actively with various sectors of society and forging closer ties based on the principle of institutional partnership.
He added that the establishment of the e-link comes in support of the national, Gulf and International campaign launched by the Environment Agency on the island of Butinah and the Hilal Liwa under the theme: "Open your eyes and vote for the island of Bu Tinah to be one of the Seven Wonders of Nature in the world" to motivate the public to vote with a view to documenting global landmark and protection under the motto: "Our heritage is Our Future".
The choice of the seven wonders of nature will be officially launched in 2011 through the official global voting platform of New Seven Wonders of Nature.
Al Minhali underscored that the interdependence of community police with issues that concern community members, such as heritage and cultural history, citing the great attention given by the Abu Dhabi Police to community through partnership with local government departments, private sector and individuals. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
