UNRWA hails initiatives of Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation
Abu Dhabi, April 13, 2010 (WAM)- Filippo Grandi, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), has hailed the humanitarian projects and initiatives undertaken by UAE in general and Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charitable Foundation in particular.
In a statement following the meeting of HE Mohammed Haji Khouri, Director General of the Khalifa Charitable Foundation, the Commissioner-General said that Khalifa Foundation has become a landmark in the arena of philanthropy through its humanitarian projects and is the first institution to provide immediate relief to the Palestinian people during the recent Israeli war on Gaza Strip.
For his part, Mohammed Haji Khouri confirmed that the contributions of the foundation is a duty towards the Palestinian people especially in their difficult economic conditions.
