UAE Minister of Foreign Trade meets Malaysian counterpart
Abu Dhabi, April 14, 2010 - UAE Minister of Foreign Trade HE Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi and Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Dato' Sri Mustapha Mohamed discussed in Abu Dhabi yesterday bilateral relations between the two countries and the ways for enhancing them, especially in the areas of Trade and investment.
During the meeting, which was held in Dubai on the sidelines of the Malaysia Services Exhibition 2010, they also reviewed the activities of UAE firms in Malaysia and the Malaysian firms in the UAE.
Sheikha Lubna hailed the high level of cooperation between the UAE and Malaysia, and pointing out that last year witnessed an increase in bilateral trade and a rise in the number of Malaysian companies investing in various sectors of the UAE's national economy.
The Minister highlighted the investment opportunities in the UAE, especially in non-oil sectors such as industry and renewable energy and urged the private sector in both countries to benefit from the mutual opportunities in the best interests of both sides.
The Malaysian minister asserted his country's keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with the UAE, whom he described as the first strategic partner of Malaysia in the Middle East. He urged the companies in both countries to identify investment opportunities and translate them into business ventures.
