RCA needs to have massive presence on local front: Hamdan
Abu Dhabi, April 21, 2010 (WAM)- Massive humanitarian efforts are needed to meet increasing demands on the local front, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has affirmed.
“Programmes should be intensified and plans should be activated to respond to the needs of local community from assistance and support,” Sheikh Hamdan said while presiding over the RCA board in Al Nakheel Palace.
“The RCA will spare no efforts in delivering its humanitarian aspirations through deployment and expansion of programmes that serve targeted beneficiaries inside and outside the country and improve their living conditions,” Sheikh Hamdan stressed.
The RCA, he added, had been selected among five representatives of Asia at the board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the RCA's strategic plan for 2011-2013 which features technical and technological programmes for upgrading performance of the relief agency.. The meeting took stock of the development and reconstruction projects the RCA is carrying out in disaster-hit regions.
