UAE Minister of Economy discusses bilateral relations with Finland and Italy
Abu Dhabi, April 22, 2010 (WAM)- His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, said the UAE offers a perfect model for economic diversification as the country is committed to strengthen its bilateral trade relations with strategic markets globally. The remarks were made, while the UAE minister was receiving ambassadors of Italy and Finland at his office in Abu Dhabi.
Al Mansoori discussed with His Excellency Paolo Dionisi, Italian Ambassador to the UAE, the economic relations between the two countries and the ways to boost bilateral trade, which reached Dh30 billion in 2009 - one of the highest in the Arab world. Al Mansouri also received an official invitation to attend the meeting of the Italian Joint Economic Committee which will be held in October 2010 in Italy.
Both sides discussed the ways of encouraging the UAE companies to invest in Italy and to exchange experiences and information on important investment sectors in the UAE and Italy. They also agreed to invite key Italian companies to visit the UAE and strengthen strategic partnerships in industry and services.
It was also agreed to invite Italian delegations to the UAE and meet with business houses to exchange experiences and open new scope for cooperation across various fields and disciplines. Al Mansoori praised the friendly and strategic relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Italy, pointing out that the joint economic committee will have a positive impact on the economic performance of both countries.
Al Mansouri also met His Excellency Matti Kalrfo La Silla, Ambassador of Finland in the UAE, who delivered an official invitation from his counterpart His Excellency Mauri Pekkarinen, Minister of Economy Affairs of Finland to visit Finland in the near future to discuss ways of cooperation and strengthening economic ties between both countries.
Both parties discussed future cooperation between the two countries and how to further strengthen economic relations, especially in enhancing trade exchange. Al Mansoori expressed the UAE's interest to strengthen relations with Finland and to exchange investments and enhance cooperation in the field of telecommunications, information technology and research '&' development.
He praised the expertise of Finland in the telecommunications sector and called for joint efforts by both countries to explore investments opportunities and exchange experience in this vital sector. The first meeting will be held in the second half of October 2010 to discuss different ways of enhancing cooperation.
