WAM and YONHAP sign cooperation agreement

Seoul - April 22, 2010 (WAM)- The Emirates News Agency (WAM) and the Korean News Agency (YONHAP) yesterday in Seoul signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen professional cooperation and exchange experiences.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of WAM and Mr. Park Jung-Chan, Chairman of YONHAP. The signing comes within the framework of the National Media Council's keenness to expand its cooperation with international media agencies, under the instructions of H.E Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour, Chairman of the council.
WAM and YONHAP, under the agreement of cooperation, will exchange news services in English via Internet or satellites or any other technical means, besides the joint cooperation in the field of multimedia, including television news.
YONHAP is planning to launch a television station in Korea, allowing WAM to provide reports for television broadcast for both Korean and English speakers. The agreement provides exchange of experiences and visits between both countries and the provision of services to facilitate the work of reporters of the two agencies to enable them to perform their professional duties. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
