Masdar, US sign technology pact
Abu Dhabi, April 28, 2010 (WAM)- Masdar, Abu Dhabi's multi-faceted renewable energy initiative, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Department of Energy (DoE) to promote collaboration on clean and sustainable energy technologies.
The agreement, signed at DoE by the US Deputy Secretary of Energy, Daniel Poneman, and Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar, builds on the strong ties between the United States and the UAE to establish a framework for co-operation in three key areas – carbon capture and sequestration, water and bio-fuels and building technology. "By enhancing co-operation on clean energy, we can help build a secure, prosperous and sustainable energy future for the citizens of our nations and the world," said Poneman.
Dr Al Jaber said: "The growth of the renewable and sustainable energy sector is seen as an important catalyst for economic growth and diversification. That is why we are delighted to be partnering with the DoE, one of the world's leading energy authorities."
