Foreign Ministry denies report on arrest of three citizens in Kenya
Abu Dhabi, April 29, 2010 (WAM)- The recent visit of Kenyan Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula to the UAE came as part of the ongoing contacts between officials of the two countries and the mutual endeavours to boost bilateral relations, according to Sultan Al Qirtasi Al Nuaimi, Director of Consular Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.
On some media claims that three UAE citizens were arrested in Kenya, Al Qirtasi said that Kenya had already apologised over the incident.
He denied that members of the royal family were involved in the incident which, he said, occurred because of mishandling by the airport officials.
On the recent visa restrictions, he said they come as part of procedures adopted by the authorities here to regulate visa issuance. He added that the two sides were working on this issue.
"The visit (of the Kenyan Foreign Minister) has nothing to do with the media reports. The two friendly countries maintain deep-rooted relations and the Kenyan visitors are always welcome in the UAE."
