Hamdan bin Zayed meets media persons
Abu Dhabi, May 4, 2010 (WAM)- Ruler's Representative in the Western Region HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of effective role the media plays in the United Arab Emirates in advancing development in all areas and in reviewing the progress of development pursued by the UAE under the guidance of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He also said that the media has become a real weapon in the modern times and a force to be reckoned with in the changing world. He urged the media persons to employ the power of media to achieve our national interests.
Sheikh Hamdan was speaking to a TV crew from the Abu Dhabi Television, who included the producers of the prime time programme 'Uloom-el-Dar', an evening show in Arabic language that focuses on domestic issues. The meeting reflected Sheikh Hamdan's interest to set up communication with all segments in the civil society.
He praised the crew members of the 'Uloom-el-Dar' programme for depicting home issues with credibility and transparency and beaming light on the aspects which have profound positive effects on the life in the UAE.
"Within a short span of time, the programme has become a widely accepted one and we watch it with enormous enthusiasm and interest. What makes it special is its humanitarian approach and its concern for the issues of the nation and the citizens", Sheikh Hamdan said.
Sheikh Hamdan called on the officials at the media institutions in the country to enhance the role of women and empower them to play their role as a vital partner in the overall development process.
