Assistant Foreign Minister of China hails UAE's peaceful efforts

Beijing - May, 9, 2010 (WAM)- H.E. Zhai Jun, Assistant Foreign Minister of China has expressed his country's appreciation for the peaceful efforts of the United Arab Emirates to resolve the issue of the three islands of Greater and Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa occupied by Iran, pointing out that UAE's position in this respect deserves support and appreciation.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency "WAM" at the headquarters of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing on Thursday, he said that his country confirmed the necessity of peaceful resolution of disputes without resorting the military force.
Jun stressed his country's keenness to boost the friendly and cooperation relations with the United Arab Emirates in political, economic, commercial, cultural and energy fields.
Moreover, he hailed the participation of UAE in "Shanghai Expo 2010" with a distinguished pavilion pointing out that such participation enhances understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
In answer to a question on the expected schedule for signing a "free trade agreement between GCC and China", Jun expressed his hope to reach this agreement as soon as possible. He added that this agreement will benefit both sides and denied the existence of outstanding problems.
