King of Jordan inaugurates SOFEX 2010 in presence of Hamed bin Zayed
Amman - His Majesty King Abdullah II, of Jordan, Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces, opened yesterday in the presence of Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, the eighth edition of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX).
SOFEX is a premier international exhibition and conference that features the largest fully-integrated Special Operations Forces equipment and solutions in the world. Senior civil and military officials, representing 350 companies and 82 Arab and Foreign manufactures are attending to showcase their products at the event.
Sheikh Hamed conveyed to King Abdullah II the regards of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, wishing him good health and prosperity to the Jordanian people.
He toured the exhibition pavilions, where he was briefed about the products which include advanced military equipment. Sheikh Hamed also attended the military parade performed during the inauguration ceremony by the Jordanian special operation units.
Sheikh Hamed stressed that the UAE is keen to take part at such events. The four-day event brought the arms manufacturers from across the world to showcase the most cutting-edge weaponry and military technology for special operations and national security.
The exhibition held biennially is one of Jordan's world-class gatherings that attracts experts and high-ranking military delegates from Arab and other world countries to discuss a host of homeland security issues. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
