GCC throws its weight behind UAE's peaceful drive to settle islands' issue

Riyadh - May 12, 2010 (WAM)- The GCC leaders reiterated today their support for the UAE's right to its three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb, occupied by Iran. At the end of the 12th GCC consultative summit in Riyadh, the GCC leaders threw their weight behind all peaceful measures the UAE is taking to restore its full sovereignty over its three islands.
They called on Iran to respond positively to the UAE's efforts aimed at settling the issue either through direct negotiations or recourse to the International Court of Justice. Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led the UAE delegation to the one-day summit which was chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
