UAE is keen to boost its economic cooperation with China: Abdullah bin Zayed

Beijing - May 13, 2010 (WAM)- Visiting UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed here yesterday that the UAE is keen to expand scope of its economic cooperation with China in order to satisfy aspirations of the two leaderships especially in areas of investment, culture and tourism. Sheikh Abdullah said that during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi over ways of enhancing bilateral relations in the fields of energy and investment. Issues of mutual interest and mechanisms of encouraging investment and establishment of joint industrial ventures were also discussed.
Sheikh Abdullah congratulated the Chinese Government for the success of the Expo 2010 Shanghai which has been seeing huge turnout of visitors since its opening in early May.
For his part, the Chinese foreign minister said China lends special attention to its bonds with the UAE and is keen to see them growing steadily.
He said the investment and business environment available in the UAE helps it attract global investors, therefore becoming a prominent world trade and financial hub and a safe destination for major world firms seeking to launch operations in the regions.
The Chinese minister paid tribute to the UAE for its humanitarian role in relieving the victims of the quake that hit China's northwest Qinghai province in last April. As for the UAE participation in the Expo 2010 Shanghai, the Chinese minister said it underpins the UAE leadership's commitment to present a true image of projects of development and construction the UAE is undertaking in various fields. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
