Abu Dhabi's pavilion at Cannes Film Festival receives world film makers daily

Cannes - May 16, 2010 (WAM)- Abu Dhabi film makers are taking part in Cannes film festival 2010 in France with a delegation headed by HE Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei Director General of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and chairman of Abu Dhabi Media Company.
Abu Dhabi's Pavilion at the March du Film holds daily events throughout the festival which will last till May 23. The seaside pavilion 139 in the International Village will be open daily from 10am to 6pm all through the Festival, 12-23 May. Hosts include ADACH (the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage), ADFC (the Abu Dhabi Film Commission), and Abu Dhabi Film Festival as well as Imagenation Abu Dhabi and twofour54.
The Pavilion offers the Emirate's leading film and TV organisations a chance to promote Abu Dhabi as a global filmmaking hub where international co-productions are facilitated, where Emirati cinema and production resources are marketed to the international marketplace, and where regional and international films and filmmakers have an opportunity to mingle at a uniquely exciting film festival rapidly gaining recognition on the world stage as it prepares its 4th edition. The Pavilion also serves as a meeting place for filmmakers and accredited industry delegates.
Last Thursday (May 13) The Abu Dhabi Film Festival held a lunch at the Abu Dhabi Pavilion to celebrate the launch of Sanad, its new $500,000 development and production fund, and the appointment of Marie-Pierre Macia to oversee the fund. "The fund is a modest beginning," said Peter Scarlett, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. "Our profound hope is it will make it possible for some projects to be realized that would not have existed otherwise." Jerome Paillard, Executive Director of the Cannes Market, was on hand to welcome Abu Dhabi and the new fund to the market, H E Mohamed Khalaf Al-Mazrouei Director General of (ADACH), Abu Dhabi Film Commission Director David Shepheard and Imagenation Chief Operating Officer Stefan Brunner.
