UAE Foreign Ministry urges nationals against Bangkok travel

Abu Dhabi, May 16, 2010 (WAM)- UAE citizens are advised to avoid travel to the Thailand until the volatile situation improves in the Thai Capital city, according to Sultan Al-Ali, head of media affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry's new travel alert is based on the UAE's interest in the safety of its nationals, he explained. "Based on constant monitoring of the situation in Bangkok, the Ministry renews the call to UAE nationals not to travel to Thailand until the situation improves there," said Al-Ali. The official added that the Ministry is coordinating with the UAE Embassy in Bangkok and the operations department to maintain contact with nationals who are already in Thailand and caution them against going to areas that see disturbances.
