WAM, Euronews explore joint media cooperation
Abu Dhabi, May 19, 2010 (WAM)- Dr. Riyad Maasaas, Head of the Arabic News Desk, Euronews, has paid a visit to the National Media Council for talks on ways of boosting joint media cooperation. Euronews produces and broadcasts news programs simultaneously in nine languages on issues that pertain both to the European Union as to the world.
Maasaas said his network, a multilingual and pan-European television news channel which reaches an audience of more than 300 million, stands ready to develop cooperation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM). He added that he explored during the visit mechanisms for facilitating and news exchange and media cooperation. The two sides discussed the mode through which WAM can feed its news and news footages on various political, economic, social, cultural and tourist activities in the UAE to Euronews, which in turn, will transmit them through its network of channels.
WAM is relaying its daily news services to more than 6000 newspapers, TV and radio stations across the world under joint cooperation agreements with news agencies in Europe and Asia.
