Afghan President receives Abdullah bin Zayed

Kabul - May 20, 2010 (WAM) Afghan President Hamid Karzai received yesterday in Kabul UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who conveyed the regards of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Afghan President and peoples. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the need for concerted international efforts to spur development programmes in Afghanistan in the best interest of Afghan people.
For his part, President Karzai valued the UAE's significant contribution to reconstruction projects in Afghanistan. The UAE Foreign Minister visited the UAE contingent in Afghanistan tasked to protect the UAE humanitarian aid to Afghan people. He also conveyed the regards of UAE leadership to them in recognition of their great role in serving and assisting the Afghan people in the reconstruction process. Sheikh Abdullah also conveyed the greetings of relatives and UAE people to them. Sheikh Abdullah took photos with officers and personnel of the UAE force there. He was accompanied by UAE Ambassador Ali Hammad Al Shamsi, Special Envoy of the UAE Foreign minister to Afghanistan and Pakistan and Yousif Subaa Al Ali, UAE Ambassador to Afghanistan. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
