Mohammed bin Zayed meets Korean President
Seoul - May 26, 2010 (WAM)- President Lee Myung-bak of the Republic of Korea received yesterday evening at the presidential palace in the Korean capital Seoul, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation consisting of Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other senior officials.
Upon the arrival of Sheikh Mohammed at the presidential palace,' the Blue House', the Korean President shook hands with him and expressed his pleasure to meet His Highness in the Korean capital, Seoul.
They held talks, during which the crown prince conveyed to the Korean President greetings of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his well wishes for the progress and prosperity of the people of Korea.
He also conveyed the condolences of H.H. the President to the Korean leadership and the families of the sailors who died when the South Korean warship sank off the Korean coast. Sheikh Mohammed also expressed UAE's condemnation of the incident and shared sorrow and grief with the family members of the victims.
The Crown Prince thanked the Korean president for inviting him to visit Korea, as well as for the cordial reception and hospitality he and the accompanying delegation were given.
Sheikh Mohammed alluded to the depth of relations and close cooperation between the two friendly countries and their peoples and stressed that the recent visit of the Korean President to the UAE and its results have inaugurated a new phase of relations and constructive cooperation between the two countries.
Sheikh Mohammed said: "We look forward to translate the desire of the two countries to deepen and develop cooperation through the launch of joint projects in energy, industry and other vital sectors as that opens a wide scope for more coordination and joint action between them".
On his part, President Lee expressed his delight in receiving the crown prince in Seoul as the visit came giving great significance to the continued development of the distinctive bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and their peoples.
He also stressed that the excellent relations between the two countries are built on the basis of mutual trust and a true spirit of understanding and friendship.
During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries and their progress and development, particularly in the areas of economy, investment, industry, education and energy.
Both sides stressed the importance of eliminating all obstacles to the promotion and development of cooperation. They also discussed several issues of common interest and developments in the region and the world. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
