Dubai, May 30, 2010 (WAM)- Dubai Cruise Terminal has won, for the third consecutive year, the prestigious World Travel Award of "Middle East's Leading Cruise Port 2010". The Dubai Cruise Terminal, located at Port Rashid, has received both the Middle East's Leading Cruise Port award as well as the World's Leading Cruise Port award in 2008 and 2009.
Tariq Bin Khalifa, Account Director, Account Management, General Cargo, DP World, UAE Region said: "Receiving this award for three successive years proves that Dubai Cruise Terminal remains peerless in the Middle East. It also reaffirms Dubai's position as the region's premier cruise destination. DP World is truly honoured by this recognition." The custom-built Cruise Terminal is the largest and most luxurious of its kind in the region. Spanning 3,300 square meters, it is capable of handling four ships simultaneously.
Inside, visitors can experience the world's finest duty-free shopping, get a taste of the local Arab culture and heritage, avail of a comprehensive communications suite including conference facilities.
Dubai's popularity as a luxury cruise destination began to take off in 2006 and the port has handled over half a million passengers coming aboard some 350-odd vessels, about a fifth of them on maiden calls. It has successfully positioned itself as the preferred port of call for the world's top cruise operators. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
