UAE's humanitarian efforts in Mauritania discussed
Abu Dhabi, June 2, 2010 (WAM)- Humanitarian operations run in Mauritania by the UAE's Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation on Tuesday were discussed in a meeting by the foundation's director general Salim Obaid Al-Dhaheri and Mauritanian Ambassador to UAE Humaid Ould Ahmed.
Al-Dhaheri gave an overview of the foundation's US$1.5 healthcare project which he said is aimed at supporting the Mauritanian government's efforts to upgrade health services and hospitals in three major areas of the country. The two sides also discussed the foundation's US$850000 water well-drilling initiative and a US$100000 plan to support Mauritania's cultural centres and libraries. The Mauritanian ambassador expressed appreciation of the efforts being made by the UAE's foundation's to improve conditions in the poorest areas of Mauritania. Ould Ahmed stressed that his country is working with all humanitarian and relief agencies to prioritize housing developments and plans to combat poverty and create jobs. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
