U.S. Congress delegation visits EHRA
Abu Dhabi, June 3, 2010 (WAM)- A delegation from the United States Congress visited the Emirates Human Rights Association (EHRA) yesterday and were received by its Secretary General Mohammed Al Hammadi.
Alan Makovsky and Robert Marcus, both members of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the house of representatives, were accompanied during their visit by Aaron Newton and Iman Asfour, from the Political Section at the U.S. embassy. The delegation members were briefed during the visit on EHRA's procedures for receiving human rights grievances, as well as interaction with the government. They also discussed with the EHRA officials topics relating to labour, freedom of opinion and expression and the field visits to the prisons and workers accommodations. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
