UAE delegation at UN Human Rights Council renews its condemnation to "Freedom Flotilla" attack
Geneva - June 3, 2010, WAM)- The UAE delegation to UN Human Rights Council in Geneva has offered condolences to the families of the victims who sacrificed their lives with courage and bravery in carrying out their humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in a bid to break the siege of the Gaza Strip.
The delegation also expressed UAE's solidarity with the injured and detainees on board the "Freedom Flotilla".
In his speech yesterday before the Human Rights Council during its emergency meeting on the Israeli attack, The UAE permanent representative to the UN European Headquarter Obaid Salem Al Zaabi stated that UAE delegation supports the statements submitted by Sudan on behalf of the Arab Group and Pakistan on behalf of the Islamic Group.
He added that UAE has condemned the inhuman criminal act committed by Israel killing around 19 civilians and wounding many others. Al Zaabi appealed to the international community to assume its responsibilities in confronting the Israeli aggression, stressing the need for an international investigation. He also called the Israeli occupation forces to release immediately and unconditionally the rest of the civilian detainees and allow them to leave. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
