Sheikha Lubna visits Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem
Bethlehem - Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi left the Palestinian territories Thursday afternoon after leading the UAE delegation to the Palestine Investment Conference which concluded in Bethlehem today. They were seen off by the Palestinian Minister of National Economy Dr. Hassan Abu Lobda and a number of Palestinian officials.
Sheikha Lubna had paid a visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock this morning and spent some time going around the courtyards of the mosques accompanied by the Mayor of Jerusalem Adnan Husseini, who briefly gave a narration of the history of the city. Hussaini also shed light on the intensive Israeli attempts to demolish the historical shrines by tunnelling underneath in search for the purported temple.
Husseini expressed gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the people of Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem to the UAE, its leadership and people for their help and assistance for Jerusalem.
The UAE Red Crescent has executed several projects in Jerusalem, such as the establishment of the health clinic next to the Al-Aqsa and the maintenance and restoration of the Marwani Mosque, Hussaini recalled.
Sheikha Lubna and the accompanying delegation also visited the Al-Maqasid Hospital and Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. She had visited on Wednesday the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron and had a firsthand knowledge of the difficult conditions experienced by the people of the city and the atrocities of Jewish extremists there. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
