UAE Minister of Labour heads delegation to ILO conference in Geneva

Geneva - June 6, 2010 (WAM)- The annual 69th session of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) commenced in Geneva. The UAE is taking part at the conference with high profile delegation headed by Labour Minister Saqr Ghobash. The delegation included representatives from the ministries of Labour, Interior and Justice, who are participating in the general and committee meetings.
The current session will discuss reports on the social policies and the latest reports on conditions of labour in Palestine and the occupied Arab territories. The committees will also tackle issues of domestic workforce, effects of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), impact of the World Financial Crisis on labour market and 1989 declaration on the basic rights in work environment.
The UAE delegation is fully coordinating with the Arab States of Gulf Cooperation Council at the ILO conference to adopt unified positions. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
