Arab League honours UAE for anti-smoking efforts

Cairo - June 8, 2010 (WAM)- The Arab League honoured UAE yesterday for its tireless efforts in the fight against smoking and its adherence to the tobacco- control rules set by World Health Organisation, WHO.
Assistant to ambassador for political, economic and media affairs at the UAE embassy in Cairo Salim Alkhadim Dhanhani received the certificate of honour during as part of the World No-Tobacco Day celebrations at the Arab League headquarters in the Egyptian capital.
Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Social Affairs Dr. Sima Bahouth said in a citation that UAE promulgated law to control tobacco, prepared visual health warnings and developed anti-smoking regulations. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
