Minister of State for Foreign Affairs visits UAE Pavilion at Shanghai Expo
Shanghai - June 8, 2010 (WAM)- Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash has toured the UAE pavilion at the current 2010 Shanghai Expo. Gargash and members of the accompanying delegation toured the pavilion which resembles a huge golden sand dune and serves as a true reflection of the UAE where the landscape and climate are integral to the country's culture.
The minister, accompanied by deputy commissioner general of the pavilion Abdullah Al-Aidarous, watched three documentaries produced by the National Media Council, or NMC, on the evolution and the rapid growth of the UAE over the past six decades.
In a statement to WAM, Gargash said the pavilion and the documentaries provide a live picture of the UAE's political, economic and social development. "The design of the pavilion provides a platform to introduce the booming culture and tourism of the UAE," he added. Gargash also hailed the efforts being made by NMC and the Takatof team who staff the pavilion. Takatof is a social volunteering program affiliated with the Emirates Foundation. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
